honda cb 750 1971 flooding?

Tony C
So I read the thread on the other guy having flooding issues. His issue is not the same as mine so far as I can tell. So as in the subject I have a 1971 CB 750. Got it off a guy for 160 and it is in simi good condition. Cleen frame engine and an OK condition tank. Now I've spent the last 9 months slowly doing servicing to the bike. And now I'm on the home stretch. Now for the actual question (I apologize ) the engine turns over when the tank has about 3/4 of a gallon in it. Then after a minute it chokes its self out. So I empty the bowls and their full. Runs same after emptying. I adjust the floats and it has less fuel in bowls but stills chokes out. I rebuilt the carbs a 2ed time and no improvement. Any ideas as to what I might have overlooked?

Ive worked on old bikes from age 5. I'm 23 now and have a long time with bikes. Experience as I am I am still willing to learn from wiser eyes.

could it just be super-rich from the fuel, and need air?

Either that, or the jets be too rich and just pounding it in like a college frat boy drinking a beer bong?

I've got no clue, just throwing out uneducated guesses.
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

What size jets are you running?
What are your air/fuel mixture screws set at? (e.g. 2.5 turns out)
What is your idle set at? (e.g. 1200 rpm)
Are you running a stock air box or pods?

With that model there is no reason it should be flooding unless the needle is not seating, and overflows are plugged.

Tools, even with massive jets and a super-rich mixture it won't flood?

It would have to do a lot of cranking without firing to flood without having an accelerator pump. I have seen bikes run with jets, so big that black smoke billowed from the exhaust. However they did fire right up.
