This might be "normal" clutch rattle.  Does it get a little quieter when you pull the clutch level in (disconnect the clutch)?  If so, it's common for the clutch basket to rattle a bit at idle. You can do a search on "clutch rattle" here and at Google to see what's involved to work with it.  Most of us get used to it.

No worries.  Glad to offer a little bit of help.  I'm still learning a lot about these particular machines. They are different enough from the old Triumph Bonneville I used to work on in the 70s.  The bikes are not that far apart chronologically, the Bonne was a 73 model, and my Avenger is a '79.
