ignition short?

BTLFAN
new member here. i have an 81 cb750f that i just replaced the ignition switch. when i hook up the battery
it pops the 30 amp fusible link on my starter relay? How likely is it to have a defective switch that's new.
Or is it a good chance that the starter relay is gone? i've popped the fuse 4 times already and i'd love to have the bike back on the road.Any and all help is most appreciated. i've owned 3 other honda's before so
i'm pretty familar with them. Thanks in advance!

Try disconnecting the switch, and connect the battery. If the fuse blows, it's not the switch.

I tried unplugging the switch and it still popped so the ignition should still be good? My starter relay is the next in question cause it looks a little corroded. I guess it's a process of elimination now. Thanks for your
help.any other suggestions? i'll let you know what happens. By the way, this has to be one of the best Honda sites i've ever found. Very friendly and helpful people all over. Wished i'd found it a long time ago.
