jetting specs?

theichthus
On my 1981 CB750k, I eagerly desire removing my stock airbox and replace it with individual filters, and thus will have to rejet my carbs.  Everything I have read thus far says it is a trial and error process.  With a set of jets costing about $50, trial and error is not my cup of tea, is there anyone who has can help?

Hello theichthus..
My advice... don't do the individual air cleaners.
I recently bought a 77 CB750K. Nice bike. But, the previous owner installed the individual air cleaners and no amount of jetting could get the bike to run as well as it does now with the air box back on it. I took it to a local bike shop last week and all of the mechanics there told me to get the air box back on it to help smooth out the leaning problems I was having. I have 4 aircleaners sitting in a junk box now.
You asked.. I've been there..
Thanks

The "mechanics" that told you to put the stock air box back on the bike were either incompetent or lazy.
Maybe they thought you were so unskilled that putting the stock air box back on would be best for a beginner.

The mixture just needed to be richer for all the air coming in from non restrictive air pods.

Many younger mechanics do not know anything about carbs . All they know is how to plug in a laptop and tell the computer to fix the problem.

One more thing... So many people have already made these jetting changes a long time ago.
Many of them 33 years ago do not have motorcycles or are not on the internet.
But trust me there ARE people out there that could tell you exactly what jets and needle positions to use.
We just have to find them and ask around.
