mac exhaust baffle?

DrewArit
Does anyone out there have a mac exhaust?

I have one and I was wondering if it has a removable baffle, it looks like the baffle should come out.  I removed the screw that appears to be holding it in place and tried pulling it out, it didn't feel like it wanted to come out.  Do I just need a bigger hammer, so to speak?

If the baffle can come out, is it a good idea to take it out?  Will it sound better / worse?  I want the bike to sound mean, but not if it is going to be obnoxious.

I'm a big loud exhaust fan, but one of these with an open 4-1 header on it is VERY LOUD at full throttle....Just FYI.  It will also kill your low-midrange power.

I have a mac header on my 78 750 . I pulled the baffle out and sawed the inside part off leaving only a piece of tubing about 2 inches long on the inside side of the baffle . then I bought the longest cherrybomb type of glass pack muffler ( 24 inch I think ) that autozone had and cut both ends off with a hack saw --pushed all the guts out --cut to length and pushed down into my header muffler-- the 2 inch piece of tubing I left on the inside of my baffle fit down inside the metal tube that runs through the muffler guts---sounds like a race pipe-- you can change sound by removing some of the fiberglass packing --sounds good but not too loud---takes away the tin can sound of the mac with factory baffle

I have a stock 78 750F exhaust and I also wanted to remove the baffle.  I read that I need to drill out the rivets.  Does anyone know if that is correct and is there any effects that I should be aware about, other than the noise difference?

I do not know about any rivets. However, you can drill holes around the inside of the end piece. If, you go too far though, you might have to re-jet.

My bike came with a tractor muff (bomb) cut it down to clear Axel and not need extra bracket
was 2ft.long or longer, now about 13inch.reversed the end stuck it thru the baffle giving the back-end A cup look rather then 6inch tube(tractor).weld and filled grounded even painted then covered whole thing with heat shield Going to have to switch the baffle around and try that sound next,Ya see some have lots of lil holes that are cupped to catch exhaust and force it thru the wrap (making it quitter)by turning it around allows it to flow more,
not sure of performance yet trying to get the carbs back in.>>>Piute<<<

I was looking at extending my 4-1 but open is super loud.  Has anyone or does anyone know if something like a mini baffle insert may help -- http://www.jpcycles.com/product/4410020 --

I am just real unsure of the whole back pressure requirements with what I have and what I need to keep in order to not rejet if possible.

Any suggestions?
