my dohc cb750f

Hey guys,

First off, great forum, with lots of inspiration for my cafe project, which i might as well update in this thread.

I just bought this presumable 1985 Honda CB750F, although i'm wondering if it in fact is a 1985?
According to the registration papers, its vin number is 2304291, and heres a picture:

I have been trying to figure out what year it is. According to wikipedia, they stopped producing cb750's in 83? And without knowing what year and model, F, C or K, it is, makes it a bit harder to find parts.

So if anyone could help direct me in the right direction for parts, i'd be happy.
The bike is running just fine, but i would like to update some of the old moving parts(master cylinder etc).
The only current problem i have with the bike is when using the right turn signal, it wont connect unless its held to the right, but i'm thinking its fixed by changing the the relay?

Is if its possible to mount pods on the carbs. Been reading up on them and have read that if they are CV carbs its gonna be a problem, but i just dig the look of it.

Look on the neck.  The year and model should be stamped on it (if it is a cb750).

Is it a nighthawk?  The nighthawk is kind of the evolution of the cb750 and they look very similar.  I'm not very familiar with them though.

I think It may be a Nighthawk, which is a CB750 essentially.. But look at the carbs, thats why I think it's a Nighthawk. But godamn that is a sweet ride.. also the rear cowl. and grab bars make me think its over the nighthawk line. Its a nice setup tho, I wouldn't hack into that one. I'd just tune it and rock it.

Have been reading up on the bikes, and as far as i can tell it is a rc04, which is from Germany(i live in Denmark) and theres lots of info on German sites.

I have been mending it slightly but i have run into a problem. Suddenly after a week where i didn't start it, it wont fire on the 4th cylinder :( Tried taking the plug out, theres a spark, then tried heating it up with a lighter and putting it back in, the it fired while idle'ing, but stopped when revving, and had trouble idle'ing down, but eventually it idled, without the 4th cylinder. Now the above method doest work, although i only tried once after.

Next things to test is a compression test, but dont have one, so i'll have to go get one.

Have the carbs been cleaned recently? Are you sure the jet isn't plugged?
Any other symptoms? Backfiring?

I'm going to clean the carbs too, but i'm having trouble removing the air box.
When i removed the tank, there was quite a bit in the petcock, which i have cleaned and have yet to put it back on.

Now that you do mention it, it doesn't backfire, so it would sugest it is a carb problem(fuel doesn't get into the exhaust)? And not a problem with the motor itself?
