new 2 the game

williep0nme?
Hi all, this is my first motorcycle restore and i really don't know where to start. The bike runs but has not been taken care of. I've spent years on restoring cars and know there are many companies out there that care much more about your money than your project. Where do I begin?

Welcome to the forum. restoring a bike is just like restoring a car. first the mechanicals then the cosmetics. You did not state what model bike, you have, but I am sure we have the manual, for it in the manual section. Go there, and download it. there are also several parts suppliers listed here. i get most of my parts from vintagecb750.com and tasclassicmotorsports.com

Thanks. I just got it. Its a 77 CB750. This baby needs lots of tlc and I hope I can do it justice. I don't want to go back stock, so I've been looking at pics of different bikes. I really like the cafe racer style and i've seen some really good ones. I will post some pics with progress reports.

well since you have restored cars, without knowing what sort of time and budget you have, tear it all down. It is the easiest way to go through all the parts to replace what is bad and get things spiffed up. that is the time consuming part. but while it is apart, you can change what you need to. Sell what you do not want, ect.
