newbie with an 81 cb750k (kind of)

jcarroll

I've been snooping around here for a while and recently ended up with a reason to post. Crazy as it may sound...my wife surprised me with this! I have no clue what all has been done to it or where parts have been sourced from. It fires right up and runs really good. This is technically my first street bike, I've spent a fair amount of time on others over the years, but not one I could call my own. 3 weeks and almost1000mi later I'm loving every minute!

SCORE!!!
That bike just does something to me... the more I look, the more I see. Somebody spent a lot of time on that frame. Then there's the paint, all that detail is amazing. From the bikini fairing, the upside-down clubmans, to that wild tail light, she is truely one of a kind.
CONGRATS!

I appreciate the comments. I have been tinkering a bit. All of the hard work was done. I made the bikini fairing and installed the clubmans. The signals were all broke so I installed these as temporarys. I think mabey it needs a round 70's set. Cool find I ran across, a Ducati Monster led fit almost perfectly in the tail light housing. Picked one up for $20, so now it has bright vertical rows that compliment the lens. :-) since the pictures I lowered the headlight and gauges a bit too.

Thanks! Ngk iridiums arrived yesterday(just in time for snow) and picking up a 4-wheeler from Craigslist for my daughters Christmas. 2001 Suzuki lt160 that hasn't been ran in a couple years. Looks like I am spending all day in the garage. Woohoo!

This post was updated on .
Well, with 6in of snow I guess I can call riding done for a bit. I need to replace fork seals and work on what I am guessing to be carb issues. As I posted previously, it ran really good, well...that was until I started opening her up a bit. Starts quick and maintains idle well, but falls on it's face just shy of 5000rpms. I Sea Foam'ed it twice and installed NGK iridiums and the old plugs looked like it had been running lean. I'm going to check for fuel flow issues first but expect to be doing a full tear down and thorough clean of the carbs. I am assuming that as much quality work was done initially that the jets were sized appropriately and I just have flow restrictions. The guy I bought it from said it had been ran very little in the past 5 years. So let the fun begin!

So I pulled my garden tractor out for snow removal duties the other day not knowing a can of black spray paint had made its way under it. My tire chains evidently punctured the can and speckled the side of my bike. The paint dried before I made it back in so today was spent cleaning instead of installing my new fork seals. The biggest issue is the spots on the side of my seat. I tried a couple cleaners in an inconspicuous area and both were unfriendly to the seats finish. Does anyone have any ideas? Goof Off and paint thinner were the ones that I tried...after hot, soapy water did nothing.

On the seat vinyl? Try WD-40?
