no master link

Josherlock
on my 1981 k, I started to pull my chain off to do a replacement but while looking for the master link i found there wasnt one i could see. Has anyone else ever encountered this? Or am i just plain crazy? Right now my plan is to cut the chain off, but i thought i would get some input before i just went for it.

Thanks in advance.

You're not crazy Sounds like you have what is called an endless chain. Some people prefer them over a master link style because of the idea that the master link in weak.

They are pretty common. I cut them, and use a clip type master link. Have never seen one break.

It is riveted, no master link.  That was commonly done by Honda at that time, on the 630 chains.  The new chain can either be used with a master link, or you can rivet it closed, making it similar to OEM.  Cheers!
