pat english
i posted this in "members bikes" but here we go again
started with this
Photobucket

started the body work and paint prep.i should have some final product pics of the tank posted tomorrow.
Photobucket
then i needed to put the stock fork tube boots back on,so the front end needed to come apart.
Photobucket
and the new boots came in today so i was able to get them on and get the front end back together.ill have some pics later tonight or tomorrow.

hers the front end back together.i think it looks alot better with the boots but it seems like somthing is still missing.the top of the boot has nothing to slide over or slip into.i was just guna wrap a hose clamp around the top.any ideas?

Gold is not a common color but I love metal flake paint jobs and really miss them.
When I first saw the tank I thought, "Its the golden pumpkin charlie brown!"  but it does look pretty good.

Those forks in the first pics are pretty scary though!

yeah, i have a hard time not flaking everything i paint.

ha ha yeah that tank is fuckin huge.i had it next to a sportster tank that i sectiond 2 inches out of the middle,it freakin dominates the sporty tank.how many gallons do these tanks hold?like 7 gallons?

yeah the front end is wierd to me.i put the lower tripple tree right back in the spot where it was,but for some reason the rust marks do not line up.i mean, the front isnt krooked.i rode it a few times before i took it apart.didnt feel wierd.

so give me some advice on this.also,if i get the original fork tube ears,do the boots slide into those?

looking good tiger.  guess you are a pint guy not a tranny specialist? It's ok.  IF you dont mind me asking why use the golden pumkin?  you had the skill to chop a sporty!   I am trying to figure out what look i want right now.  this bike needs such a deep ass tunnel I am trying to find something slimmer to make this thing look less like a rolling couch.

You should be able to download a wiring diagram here. Be a little easier to read than the manual one.

Great looking seat cover!  Did it go over the old one, or did you strip the old one and put on the new one?  My son's 550 Supersport needs a new cover.  It'll be a good project for him.  Some of the ones on JCWhitney look do-able.

Looking good overall.  I hope you get to run it soon.

i took it to a local upolstry shop.he took the old matirial off and repaird the areas of the foam that were jacked up and reupolsterd it.

thanks.yeah it runs good.i rode it to the gas station the day i got my permit.im just waiting till this weekend to get insurance.and i found a guy that has an original 4 into 4 egxaust.guna pick that up this weekend too,cuz i dont like the way it runs with the straight pipes on it.

hopfully evrything works out with the pipes and ill ahve some pics up this weekend.
