Just unplug the control unit from the harness. You might need to make a jumper wire to bypass the kill switch though. I cannot remember if it is an open or closed switch.

I want to think it is an closed and when you push it, the circuit opens and kills the ignition. Still, a person should keep something for a kill. May even be required in certain states.

You should defiantly have a kill switch, but there are many different switches you can use and hide them on the bike.
It's only illegal if you get caught.

Last week I said I might delete my controls as well after I installed some clubman bars. After rethinking it, I decided it's not the controls so much that are ugly as it is the huge bundle of wires. There are seven wires emanating from the right control - no idea why so many for two functions, but without looking at my wiring diagram (thought of which makes me break out in a sweat) I think three are dedicated to the kill switch.  That's much more manageable for me - I plan to run them into the bars and out underneath the fuse box where they will be virtually invisible. I'll probably do something similar on the left side, possibly just retaining the hi/low function. Who needs turn signals anyway?

Edit:  I just realized what two of those wires are for - the brake light switch. No problem if you brake front and rear simultaneously, but I think some states require them as well. I know they were required in Germany.  When my V45 arrived in Bremerhaven, the spring attached to the switch on my rear brake had mysteriously disconnected itself on the boat ride over. I'm sure the local bike shop there was making a killing...

so i went ahead and took apart my right hand controls. and connected the blk to the blk/white wiring. ignition on kickstart it turned over. now i know there are a few more wires the one that i am curious about is the yellow/red wire that ties into the starter solenoid. obviously i dont need it to turn the bike over so can i just delete the solenoid as well?

The solenoid only operates the electric starter, so if you are only going to kick start it, it will not be needed.

At that rate, may as well remove the starter and plug the hole.

i went ahead and pretty much deleted half of my wiring harness. some questions i am left with is that i have a blk/red wire and a blk/yellow wire bot running into my fuse box. going through the wiring diagram i cant seem to find where these wires came from. (i know i shouldve taken pictures before i did all this work) and lastly im still having trouble with my running taillight. i chased the brown wire to the ignition switch(which is brand new btw) and it also lead to the headlight bucket which was a dead end. i have a brand new tail light and it gets both front and rear breaks and it also lights up when im in the parked position of  my switch. is there another wire im missing? maybe one that goes into my fuse box?
