rain trouble! help please

edwinmedina28
This has probably been beaten over the head but I couldn't find anything on it. My bike hates to ride when its raining. She'll start to sputter and I'll loose a shit ton of power and she'll stall out. Is this because I have pod filters? Its been raining a lot by me and I use my bike to get to work. Any ideas?

Not trying to sound like a smart ass, but if its raining real hard and the pods suck in water and not air, then yes I would suppose that is an issue.   I would check to see if electrics in back under seat look goodtoo.  ie have rubber caps where the are supposed too etc as well as electrics in front

To confirm what the issue is I would start the engine when its dry and mist some water by carbs (similar to what it would be if it was raining, may be use a cleaned out windex bottle) and if the bike coughs, there's your solution

Haha you're right though, the first time I encountered this problem I got stuck in a storm. Than another day it was a light drizzle and thought it wouldn't be affected. I'm gonna try the water bottle trick, I took out all the dash and changed the ignition switch to turn on like a car so I won't need a started. So I'm most def going to check that area. Thanks bro

Most of the time when water is involved in a running problem, it is the coil/spark plug wires. After 30+/- years the insulation will deteriorate.
