split collet replacement

johnnya
can anyone advise. i have taken the exhaust and down pipes off my cb750f1 i thinks it the first time its ever been off and the bike is 32 years old, anyway had the down pipes chromed and they look great...problem is...i was put the whole thing back together put on new copper gaskets but used the old collets and it blowing from the stud area like a good un...will i have to replace the collets or am i putting it back wrong...cheers

did you get the old gaskets off? Only other thing is that something is off center.
Do all 4 do this?

cant remember any old gaskets appearing.....just the collets fell out...it just appears to be blowing from 1 and 4....what do you thimk about new collets, old one`s do look a bit rusty....cheers

Pull the pipes off and get out the old gaskets, they are most likely in there causing the issue.
The spacers should not be an issue. Clean them up and unless they fall apart, they should be fine.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

 if you have put in new crushable copper washers and tightened the pipes you will have to get new gaskets again, once you crush them thats it, but make sure to get all of them out before
 puttin in new ones,,collets should be fine...

hi, the old gaskets were still in there...all sorted now and sounds great..thanks for the advice...and i used the old collets with no wories and saved around 25$...cheers..all
