still no spark

Hi all, can anyone tell me what the little metal object is behind the battery and in front of the rear mudguard, it has a couple of wires going to it that appear to be from the spark unit, it seems to be leaking a black sticky substance, the reason I ask is that after checking the bike from front to back I still have no spark at the plugs and I spotted this the other day. i had had the bike running then it was not touched for a couple of weeks then no spark, cant think of anything else at the moment, thanks.

If it is seeping, it is probably bad.  you can swap the two OKI spark units and see if the problem follows the spark unit.
