seems my trip odo is shot; I was going to buy a new/used cluster gauge [but can't afford it]; is it easy to replace the spring?

Are you sure it is just a spring? Let us know the model, if anything, maybe ebay has a cheap speedo to replace it with.

nope, not sure its just the spring.

speedo fine, tach fine, odo working, trip odo button goes down and stays doen, needs to be pulled back up.

up down up down a dozen times and sometimes the numbers move and sometimes not.

been quoted $250 iirc for a used speedo [which I had intended to buy but wound up with other problems that took my money [apologies to those I was dealing with].

Did, you look on e-bay? I have found all kinds of parts there. I know there are some speedo/tach units on there.
