my guess: clean the "hole" and surrounding area [brake cleaner?] a bit of Liquid Gasket to seal, or will it seal itself?

no laughing! I'm beginning to do stuff for myself . . . starting off easy [the engine didn't blow up with the oil change, and the electrical system didn't fry with the turn signal replacement].
