Hey guys my name is mike im new to the forums. Im a mechanic but never really messed with bikes but i just bought a 82 cb750c with 20,000 miles on it beautifull bike runs good. 2nd gear was out so i tore it all down switched out the gears and now it will start and run but u have to give it gas to keep it running untill it warms up. What do i need to adjust? I wouldnt think the carbs would get out of sync by sitting on my work bench
Check the manual and see what it says. On my carbs, I have a fast idle cam that keeps rpm up while choke is engaged, then goes off when the knob is pushed back in. What does it idle at when warm? About 1000rpm or so would indicate the idle knob is set fine.
I would check the manual in the troubleshooting section. It is probably something simple. Something as simple as the idle mix screws needing a bit of tuning.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
Yeah it idles around 900 to 1000 after it warms up. I forgot to mention i had to pull the number one carb off to change a couple of o rings on the fuel inlet line.
Used to have a 1979 CB750L, sold it as a parts bike, now riding a slightly modified 1984 VT700C. Network/Field Engineer. Central OH, USA, Earth, Sol System, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe.
