This post was updated on .
Hi all1
I have a problem dismantling front fork of my 1976 k6......
Took off the top cap....lower bolt to drain oil...
Also took off the circlip surrounding  at the top of slider..

I tried to pull off the slider, holding the top tube in a vise but it doesn't want to come out..
I tried Knocking it downward strongly holding the slider in my hands....same result..

idont wanna pull it (or knock) too hard....don't wanna break something...

have a clue??

Merci!

P.s : after surfing on the site i found a good tutorial by TOOLS.....i seems like i did the right thing...

except for the allen bolt at the bottom of slider.....is it necessary?????.....

my shop manual didn't mention it.....

Thanks

It holds the slider onto the tube. The best way to remove them is with an impact. However if yours is buggered out, I guess drill the head off.

Yeah, it holds the piston inside the fork pipe (slider). If the hex socket is rounded out, try slotting with a Dremel or cold chisel and use an impact driver.

Okay!
Problem solved!

Forced a "torx" Key in the allen bolt head and it came out.........

I previously poured a lot of "loose nut" on it.....left it work overnight and bam!.....jobs done...

Thank you all|!

Hi TOOLS!

Sorry  to bother again....

I went to partzilla to find a part number for the bolt i messed up (slider bottom allen bolt ).....

There is 2 numbers and description for that part.....

The first one says " bolt, socket, 8mm,(SHOWA)
And the second says only " bolt, socket, 8mm......Not Showa....

Do you know what is the meaning of "SHOWA"?

On the diagram theres also special washer (see part #23).....on my bike there was no washer down there....
What do you think?? Do i need this washer?

Here's the link to partzilla's page to help you...

Thank you for your precious help!!!!

Showa is the brand name of the manufacture of the fork. You can go to any hardware store, and get the 8mm Allan bolt. The washer is a copper washer, and most hardware stores should have them also.
