78 cb idles too fast

cbrydr
my 78 cb750  has developed a fast idle after i cleaned the carbs.   It starts and idles fine but after riding for a while I notice the idle stays at about 2000 rpm's. cables are not binding idle thumb screw is backed all the way off  , choke fast idle screw is backed off and I have sprayed carb cleaner around intake boots with no indication of a leak . any help would be greatly appreciated--THANKS and GOD bless you!

Did you separate the carbs from one another for the cleaning.
If you did you could have a problem with the linkage between the carbs.

I just cleaned my carbs (81 CB750F SS and I can't seem to get a reaction from the idle Air screw on # 3 carb no matter what I try. The balance in good and no air leaks.
Those things are sure fuzzy.

good luck and let us know what you find.

I'm not sure how far you dis-assembled but if you moved the throttle sync adjustment nuts, you may have them back in set too low, which would be resting on the top of the carb and idle screw may not work. The sync adjusting nuts set too low would raise the slides causing high idle. Might not be the case here but just a thought. The idle usually increases as the engine warms up.
