Okay, been awhile but been making progress. I've got the GL1000 front end on and brakes rebuilt, New 530 sprocket/chain conversion done, carbs rejetted, oil pressure gauge hooked up, brackets cut to fab up rear sets and new Avon tires mounted! Let me know what you guys think about the gas tank, spent the evening cutting and beating metal to get a rough shape started. i know the lower edges of tank are going to have to be dealt with. Don't know if I should try and roll the edges under or cut them off and weld up the seam. Only thing that scares me is my ability (or relative inability) to weld very well. Worried I'd make more of a mess than an improvement.
I need to make a bracket to secure the oil gauge. Was trying to figure out how to hook up the gauge when i remembered I had a spare steel braided brake line with one banjo end and the other a female NPT fitting. Used the upper oil feed line to the head, double banjo bolt and viola, it fit perfectly. The banjo bolt threads are the same as the oil feed bolt, got lucky with that one. The difference in the tank is subtle in the photos but you can see how I've lost the top hump and lower swoop. Going to put on a vintage Monza flip top gas cap.
I think your doing just fine. It looks great. TOOLS

I like vintage bikes because they take me away from the clutter of technology that I work with everyday and back to a simpler time of mechanical elegance and simplicity.. "ninadm"

Thanks guys. She's looking a bit knackered but just needs a good cleaning after all the mods are done. The nice thing is that ive been forced, in a way, to work on my other two bikes. Really excited about getting the 350 back together, she'll be the little sister look-a-like to the 750. Might put the CR fairings on the 350, they're priced really reasonably from Airtech. Now hopefully I won't butcher the reweld on the tank this weekend...
