Aftermarket turn signals

kigsby
I have a 1975 750 SS.  The PO took off the front and rear turn signals.  The wires are still there and the flasher as well.   I have an extra set of lights from another bike but they only have two wires - a yellow + and a black -.    The wiring diagram shows three wires going into the front turn signals.  Do I need to find lights that have three wires rather than two or can I connect the blue/blue & white and the orange/orange  & white together?    Thanks for any help you can provide!

Check the bulb element in your new set and see if has 2 or just 1,
  1 would be just winkers
2 you have running light and winker
You wont to have both, some states require it ,of course some don't.

    OPP's ,
So if you connect together you will have constant power witch is running light once the key is on.

Find out if one of the three wires is ground.

There's only one element so I guess I can't do both.  I hooked them up and finally got both the front and the back to flash correctly, but the indicator lights are backwards!  When I push the switch to left, the left lights blink, but the right indicator light blinks.  ?????

Re: Aftermarket turn signals

I'm fine keeping them as turn signals for now and when I find lights that can do both later on I'll switch them out.  I've had too many people almost cut me off or ride up my butt because they didn't know I was turning.    I just don't get why the indicator lights are backwards.  If the PO just removed the lights and left all the wiring behind, I doubt its backwards plugged into the bulbs.  But if the handlebar switch works the correct light, I guess it has to be the wires to the indicator bulbs.  Maybe he was going to remove all the wires and changed his mind and plugged them back in wrong.   I'm sure I can figure that one out.   I also see that there is supposed to be a buzzer to alert you when the turn signals are left on.  I don't see anything attached to that wire in the headlight, but where is this buzzer located?

On mine it's behind left dog ear rubber plug hold it in,I gave mine to one of the guys ,There great for reminding to turn off,My self I unplug the flasher and flash the light myself on-off 2 or 3 times way before turn ,then about 20yards couple mo flashes and hand signal just as or at time while in beginning to turn.
IT CAN BE MORE DANGEROUS to leave on then to use,
Try hand signals they get noticed cause I get lots of waves from people I don't know.
