LED signals

alehman
Hey,

I was hoping to replace my indicators with smaller led ones. What would it take to make that switch?

LED's use much less power, which throws off the blinker devices used in older bikes.  This usually refers to the signal bulbs, not the indicator/dash lights, though it could have the same effect.  The solution is to install "load balancers", which draw the current the LED's do not, throwing out any power savings gained by the use of LED's...

If you install LED's, you will need to use high-output LED's, with series-limiting resistors.  Otherwise, look for direct replacement LED's, which are designed to replace specific bulb types.  These replacements are plug-in replacements, ready to go.  These do not have load balancing circuits in them.  Buy one, and try it to see if it affects the blinker circuit -- electrical parts usually cannot be returned for a refund, only exchanged.

LED's burn for 50,000-100,000 hours, where filament bulbs last 1,000-12,000 hours.  They burn milli-watts of power, where filament bulbs burn 2.5 Watts (dash bulbs), to 27 Watts (turn signal bulbs). They are worth converting, if no load balancers are needed.  They are the last bulbs you will install.  Cheers!

I've heard that another solution is to install a new LED electric flasher relay to replace the stock one.  That way the actual load on the battery is much less as well.

That said, I haven't done it myself.

Hi guys
My brother has a HD that he put a pair  of the mirrors with LED turn signals in them  and small LED rear turn signals on. He just went to the local Auto Zone and pick up the LED flasher. It works just fine.

Maybe the some with our 750's

I am running LEDs on my fairing with no problems. I just wired them up. Thats it same flasher that I have been using with the standard bulbs
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

My experience L.ittle E.lectric D.ots, Used these Did not change anything but lights,

Tail light (running light, plate, winker, brake)all in 1

These I taped in for running lights /side markers,Got way to hot to leave on,So made just winkers.

I Also taped into with Bagg lights as running & winkers,I like the fact that my brake light is high.....                              (reason left only in tail light)

lenes changed to RED fish bowl type to see from side better

I burnt out the lic plate light and had to add plate L.E.D.s (can only see at night)
MY BATT.over charged and burned all running light bulbs, dash, lices plate, tail(running bulbs),side markers
