A sand blaster tool is less than $25, at
Harbor Freight. I picked up a gun (
link) made for crushed walnuts, but I used baking soda in it: works great, for really fine blasting; have not tried sand, or crushed walnuts, in the gun, yet. All it takes is a blasting gun, and an air compressor. They're handy tools to have, if you have some spare cash.
The spokes definitely need to be removed, and trashed. The hubs are fine, both front and rear, on visual inspection through the photo's. The rims would need to be blasted to bare metal, and then carefully examined. If you have the cash for a blaster, these would make perfect experiments to learn how to handle do it (wear a breather mask!). I doubt the rims will be salvageable, but they make a perfect training tool. Cheers!
