Hi again , The front end of my K5 just about felt like the forks were jammed up , or at least hardly working . It was at its worst at 45 mph . The forks seemed not to be absorbing any of the bumps in the road = rough and bumpy ride . 1/ Change the fork oil and check the seals . I put in the correct ammount of 10 weight oil , NO Change , 2/ I then changed the springs with another set of forks I had on hand , No Change 3/ I used my springs in the other set of forks , No Change .4/ Then I used my forks with the other springs .5/Then I used the entire other forks No Change 6/ Then I changed the wheel bearings in the front wheel . NO Change . I had checked the steering stem bearings and exhausted the combos' of forks and springs and oils that I had , and no change . $**# OK Mabe the tire has gone hard , so I had a new tire put on and balanced , NO Change . OK so now it is time to look everywhere else . I read in a mag about 25 years ago , about a guy having front end problems and the mag told him to look closely at the back end of the bike after checking the obvious things . So I spun my rear wheel by hand , Not to bad , But then I spun it up to about 45 mph on the main stand and the whole thing was jumping up and down , So 7/ I took the wheel off and stripped the tire off [ note tire was a 130 and only just cleared the swingarm TOO BIG ] I took the wheel to the local wheel guy and had him true the wheel , he said the left to right was pretty good , but the up and down was quite bad , and he also found several loose spokes . 8/ So with trued rim in hand I had the correct size tire fitted and balanced and now the problem is 95% gone or maybe thats just me being too critical . There must be a moral to this story , but the thing I like is that a tip from 25 years ago made the difference , Cheers MartyQ
