Carbuertor/choke? (1999 -CB750X)

Peggy
Engine idles fine but bogs down when throttle is opened. It operates fine when the choke is half way up but the engine idles high at 2500rpms and higher. All 4 carburetors have been cleaned twice, new throttle cables replaced, oil changed. Drained the gas tank completely. This bike sat for a number of years. It has 4500 miles on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You so much!

Well the idle with the choke is good. See since 77, carbs for honda have had an idle cam on them to bring idle speeds up during warm up. So that is good.
It sounds like the engine is too lean and closing the choke a little cuts off some of the air. This is most likely caused by the idle circuit being dirty. Yes you said you cleaned them twice but did you pull all the jets out? I dont know about your carbs but most of the other year allow the jets to be removed by pulling them out. Another reason might be you put in a different air filter or free flowing exhaust without tuning the idle mix for it.

If you have not done so, get the manual here and read the carb section. Anything removable should get pulled and cleaned and all passages for fuel cleaned during any cleaning.
After that, what are you using for the filter and is the exhaust original?

Thank you again,,,I did clean the bowls and the jets out. I haven't replaced the air filter because it seems fine, very clean..I'm using original exhaust and original air filter.  I'm going to pull the choke plungers tonight.  Again, thank you for all your help!

I fixed the manual downloads so if you could not get it, you should now on the alternate download.
