Carburetor Linkage Re-assembly Problems on a CB750K

whp188
Choke Relief SpringMy husband is trying to re-assemble the carburetor and trying to figure out exactly how to install the choke relief spring. We have a manual and have looked all over online, but every image is either blurry or vague. I have attached pictures of how he put the choke relief spring on for now, and we're wondering if it is correct. Does anyone have any photos of the way it is supposed to look? Please help! 0

Dont worry about that spring that appears to be loose. It only comes into play when you assemble the other pair of carbs. Then refer to the pics in the linked thread.

Thanks so much! The pictures are a huge help! The spring that's loose - will it tighten up? While it's loose right now, it won't hook to that notch.

And, by the way, anyone who can put a carburetor back together by themselves deserves a medal. It's taking two of us to line everything up. :)

Okay, thanks to your help, we have the spring things figured out.

However, now I have another question. In the photo, is the choke arm in the correct position? Right now it doesn't open the choke valve very much. Once it's operational, does air suck it into the right position?

It doesnt look right. In the relaxed position, under spring tension,  the butterfly valves should be horizontal to the venturi (wide open). Your cable hook looks to be about one eighth of a revolution too far anticlockwise but I cannot see the location of the butterflies in your picture. The airflow has nothing to do with the opening of the choke.

On second thoughts, have you actually got the butterflies installed on the shaft?
They are what stops the spring loaded shaft in the wide open position

Yes, the butterflies are wide open.

Check whether the arm on the end of the choke shaft is tight to the shaft, it may have twisted round. I think it is only 'rivetted' to the shaft.

can anyone refer a shop online that sells replacement springs for the Choke Relief and Throttle linkage?
the ones that are on this carb are in pretty bad shape.

A part like that is going to be a hard find. I would try cmsnl or davidsilverspares.com

cmsnl is expensive, but can get a lot of parts. They are also european, so is david silver.

david silver is usually pretty good about parts. You might need to email them directly if you can't find the part you are looking for.

The other option would be to contact Keihin, the company that made the carbs.

Whatever route, make sure you have the model of carbs, not bike model. Carbs are swapped all the time, so results will be better if you use the carb model.
