New to the cb750 world let alone the hondamatic I've got a 78 with some carb issues.  Found the issue still got the nifty carb issues anybody know a good cheap place to source carb parts since the cb750a uses smaller carbs then the k/f series?

I just bought carb kits for mine from vintagecb750.com . They have the best prices on parts I have found. Also the carbs are the same as the K/F models. The A just has an electronic device to kick up the idle when the bike is put into gear, but it is only attached to the carb, and not part of it.
What kind of shape is your fuse box in? I have three A's, and they all had bad fuse blocks. Two of them had bolts put in in place of the fuses

Fuse box looks good the bike is actually in really good shape for a 78 not a spot the original owner had it parked in a garage for the last 10 years guess its one of the perks of only being the second owner.  Biggest issue with it right now is the thing runs but doesn't ride.  I'm hoping its just the carbs and nothing internal since its only got 38k on it

Hmm I was reading somewhere that the A had smaller carbs then the K/F...  I know my cm400 carbs are damn near the same

Hi. New member here. You say you found the issue? What is it?
Carb parts for the 750A are still available from Honda. Having sat unused for a long time, those carbs likely won't run right till they're completely overhauled. If you're lucky, the idling issue is just plugged idle jets and circuits. The idle jets are pressed in and difficult to remove without damaging them, unless you're familiar with the process. Not a job for an amateur, that's for sure.

If you're unlucky, one or more of the rubbers connecting the carbs to the cylinder head have split. That's a very common issue. And unfortunately, those rubbers haven't been available in years. The carbs are the same bodies used on the '77 and '78 CB550K. The rack is shorter than a normal CB750's, so the rubbers angle toward the center. With the engine idling, spray carb cleaner around the area where those rubbers connect to the head. If there's a split causing a vacuum leak, the cleaner will get sucked in, and the idle speed will change noticeably.
