Hi everyone,
I wanted to switch from the standard comstar wheels to a more oldskool spoked wheel without having to change the front end. Does anyone have any experience withe this and know of a straight swap that can be done? I have double disks on the front and single disk on the back...can provide picks if it helps!!
Thanks in advance.

On the front you can use a 79-83 K model front wheel. Just use the left rotor, and caliper from your C, or F model. On the rear any 69-79 CB 500, 550, 750 wheel will bolt right on, however I would recommend 77-83 wheels because they will have the correct cush drive, and spacers. However you can swap the cush drive, and spacers from your wheel into any of the others.

Thanks Tools,
does that mean I will have to go down to one disc on the front then?
Seems these wheels are fairly scarce in the UK!

Yes, just one disc. The 79-83 K models wheel will only mount one disc. You could switch to 73-78 forks though. Then you could mount duel discs on spoked wheels.

On the DOHC spoke wheels, you can't run dual discs? The bolts don't pass thru like a SOHC?
RE:SOHC forks in DOHC trees: I have seen DOHC's with 37mm forks. SOHC are 35mm, so gotta watch for that.

Ah, that siunds like an interesting solution, thanks shinyribs. I don't suppose those forks you speak of are in the UK are they?

Yeah, that would probably be the easiest thing. Use SOHC forks and just bolt it all together.
I've actually got a nice set of '76 forks I need to get rid of.

What are the problems i will be facing mounting a 77,78 front wheel for my 83 cb750f2? (Now made hardtail bobber with the same axle and axle distance)
And i see that you are not listing 79-83 model rear wheels as an option above. Any reason for this?
Cheers

The rear spoke wheels, and the drum brake comstars are all interchangeable, as long as you have the correct cush drive, and spacers for your year/model engine. I have never tried the front wheel swap you are asking about, so I do not know if it will go right into your forks, but I do know that you can swap the forks, and wheel right into your triple tree.
