I'm having troubles with my fuses blowing in my 76 750f. I know tools posted that he changed his to blade type. I've decided to do the same thing but I'm Not sure where's the best place to connect the new fuse holders. I'm thinking I should take off the female connector below the current fuse box to eliminate and connection problems there. Has anybody else done this modification and do you have any advice on where it's best to saughter in the new fuse folders for either practicality esthetics or both?

I cut the wire harness off the back of the fuse block, and use the weatherproof butt connectors (the kind that shrink around the wires). Just be sure to use a 20amp breaker, for the main.

The previous owner put in all in-line fuses on all the lines that was to fuse panel, WHAT A MESS and I didn't like the look of all those wires bugging out all over. But me liking stock appearance: put a glass fuse box back in (had 4 boat)and put ever thing were it belonged (I Think)
bought all new rubber stuff for the stock/new look,I wish I had thought of thee other type (blade)but didn't at time what fuses/wires

I seem to remember there's a large fuse or a fusible link (30A or so) that is in line with the starter circuit or the charging circuit. I know there's one on my Shadow. It's got one wire from the battery, and the other end of the fuse splits into 2 wires (I think one goes to the starter, the other to the top of the fuse block).
I'll check the wiring diagrams, and see if I'm right or I'm senile. Luke M

On my '79, there is one fuse block in the middle of the handlebars (I have to take the fuse cover off to get to the handlebar locking screws, in order to adjust the angle of them), and a separate 30-Amp fusible link, on the left side, behind the side cover. The side cover fusible link got replaced (burned it up dropping a screwdriver on top of the fuse block on the handlebars...) with a blade fuse holder, and fuse (didn't know where to get the fusible links at the time, so I upgraded -- $3 at Wal-Mart).
Replacing the fuse block can be a lot of work, and you need to be sure to do it right, making secure connections. If you use crimp-on connectors, take your time, and check your crimps carefully. If you are comfortable doing it, go ahead. Take lots of photo's before, as a reference. Make sure you can clearly see the color codes on the wires, as they were originally connected.
The fusible link, by the way, looks like a miniature, open-ended wrench, around one inch long. It is secured in place by two screws.
