Disc brake pedal

jamman18
The return spring for the rear disc brake pedal on my CB750 1977 came off and I am trying to see how it goes on and hooks up on both ends.  Which side does the shorter end of the spring go to and where does the longer side go to?  I know 1 end hooks onto the little screw that protrudes on the upper side but not sure which end goes on there and where the other end hooks into.  HELP!

Re: Disc brake pedal

Piute

A picture of the spring would help here,
I just went and looked at the spring that goes on the backside of the bracket,
IF it's this, the shorter hooks the steel peace there(Points toward rear) and longer comes around and hooks a screw on the aluminum bracket,What this spring does is works the rod from resavor using that steel peace hooked on.

Here is the picture; granted, I do not know if the ends are correct shape or if the got bent as it popped off.  Right side is long, left is short......so maybe that will help you to determine which faces the rear and hooks onto the screw...

Hope this help the spring looks a little different but the same principle. The loop goes around the brake arm and the other end goes in the pocket on the frame. If I am wrong some one will correct me.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

Looks like you may have a different model.... mine is 1977 CB750F SS and it looks a lot different than that.  The description by Piute seems that he has more like mine.....

Yeah, I've got that pic too......shows the short end of the spring to the rear but doesn't show me where either end hooks on to.  Piutes's photos are helpful but look like the short end is to the front and hooks to the screw and the longer end hooks to the rear of the spindle instead of in the slot at the front like I would have thought.  Is that correct?   I'll get a light and and take a picture of how I'm trying to put the spring on and maybe that will help you all.  Thanks!
