Does A/F screw only affect idle?

FastCletus
I am having a heck of a time with my tuning.  I went up on jets from 68-73 and 100 to 108 (i have 105's if need be)  with a stock box and 4 into 1's.  I have been going back and forth on the A/F screw trying to get things right and its just not working.  The bike just doesn't want to go over 5K, with the throttle wide OPEN on the freeway.

I keep adjusting A/F screws but it doesn't help.  Someone (Rich) brought to my attention that the A/F screws are only meant to calibrate idle speed and they have nothign to do with main jet.  I am starting to think the 108 is too big.

The A/F mixture screws are just that. The air to fuel ratio. Its my understanding that it affects the whole band. When mine are in too far i get a lean pop sound and when theyre too far out my bike boggs and has to pop on deceleration. I run 68 secondary and 105 mains on my bike at sea level. It works really well for me

Ended up pulling carbs off again for the billionth time and went back to 105 jets.  It seemed to run better with those than 108's

cbr 600 coils just came in, or well one of two came in.  will wait and fire it up when the other gets here, and see where I am at
