Exhaust Options

sharky15
I'm almost done with the 73 rebuild project of the year and now it is time to deal with the exhaust.  Currently I have the 4 stock pipes on the bike but they are rusted to beat hell.  I cannot seem to find any cheap alternative to buying new pipes for $400.  Any suggestions?

Is it the exhaust or the headers that are rusted badly?

Headers can be wrapped pretty cheap...

Now don't laugh... When I had my CB350four the mufflers were shot but the head pipes were fine. I cut the mufflers off and added 4 individual VW exhaust tips from JC Whitney. They slipped right over the factory pipe and are slightly baffled ... sounded pretty mellow at idle or part throttle, but friggin AWESOME with a wide open throttle. I'd really like to hear them on a sebin-fiddy!

It's hard to beat the sound of a 4-4. 4-1 is the next best bet IMO.

4-4 is expensive as sin though. Plenty of options for 4-1 for cheap, but make sure you like the look of the bike first.

Personally, 4-4 just fit like a glove on k models.
