Fork oil replacement

Cabreco
I just installed progressive springs in my Venture (to replace the air ride) and I have an extra liter of BelRay 15w fork oil.
So... I go to thinking, although I have no problems, I'm sure Fiona could use a fork oil change.

Maybe someone can answer so questions

1 Can I use this 15w oil in the 81 750K?
2 My Yamaha holds 409cc in each fork BUT the procedures called for filling the forks 5 1/2" from the top  of the fork tube while they are compressed. Is there a similar procedure for the DOHC?
3. Would the 17psi in the front forks be maintained at that level?

I was thinking of replacing the oem fork springs with progressives on Fiona as well but she still rides nicely

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use any fork oil in Fiona...  Different weights will yield different performances:  the higher the weight, the stiffer the forks.  The book specifies Dexron III ATF, but that is because it is uber-stable in viscosity over a wide temperature range (just like legitimate fork oil), and it is supposedly around 10W equivalent.

I installed Progressive Fork Springs, and Rear Shocks, on my '79 K model:  rides like a modern, 21st Century bike!  Worth the investment, IMO.  It is more than just comfort, though, as it tracks the road surface much more accurately, which means greater safety, and control.  It is a bit of cash, but worthwhile, if you put the miles on the old girl.  Cheers!

Fiona holds 5.2 oz, or 155 cc. You can use the 15wt fork oil. It will not hurt anything. However like Sarg says "Honda recommends 10 wt, or ATF"
