Getting nowhere

Peter t
I need some help. I have a 1978 cb 750 k, I put a 1976 engine in it. I don't think that I am having a compatible issue, but here is my problem. I just cannot get this bike to fire. On the coils there are two wires, one blue and one yellow. With mine I have checked, and am getting power to the coils. The problem is the yellow wire fires a timing sequence, but the blue wire does not. The blue wire as a matter of fact, delivers constant power with the ignition on. So the situation is 2 and 3 should fire correctly, but 1 and 4 do not. Can anybody give me an idea as to why this is happening.

Do, you have the stock points, or has it been converted to an electronic ignition?

Have you verified the point is opening? If it does not open, it will not break the connection to allow the coil field to drop and create spark.
Same basic thing if you are using an electronic ignition. The module for 1.4 is not triggering.

With the points, it is likely just an adjustment issue. With the electronic, it could be adjustment of the module could be bad.
