How to separate crankcase?

palbradley
I have a 79 cb750K and I am rebuilding the engine. I need to separate the crakcase. All bolts removed, but the two case halves are semi stuck. They are completely apart except for the area near the generator motor. This area will separate only about 1/4 inch, but that is it. The rest of the crankcase will pull apart. Any ideas of why this area is stuck, and how to separate it?

Did you (or anyone) ever figure out how to solve this? I'm experiencing the same problem.

I think, you need to remove the rotor.

Agreed. You may need a Honda removal tool to get the rotor off of the crankshaft. That + some PB blaster.

Being a 79, I tKe it this is a DOHC.  I split my 74 SOHC without removing the rotor, no problem.  Are you sure you have all the screws out?  If I remember correctly, it's easy to miss a couple.

What you need is a workshop manual. Turn off your computer.

You need accurate instructions and photos .

If he turned off his computer, he couldn't get the manual. Which can then be printed out as he needs things.

Palbrad, the cases can get stuck together. once you verify you have everything removed that is required,  some taps on a block of wood with a mallet can loosen things up.
