I just don't know what to say, it's bad.

Last Thursday I was riding the Toolmatic and had just pulled off Hwy 71 onto Troost Ave (a city street) when all the sudden I heard a loud hisssss. Then the rear started wiggling around. I thought I had a flat tire. However when I got pulled over, and stopped I looked down, and oil was spraying out of an oil cooler line. I shut it off as quick as I could, but there was a huge puddle of oil under the bike, and a trail down the road. I got the bike home, and went to fix the oil leak, and do some other needed maintenance. Unfortunately I must not have gotten it shut off soon enough. It now only has 50-55 psi compression. I did do a wet test in one cylinder, and it jumped to 105. I guess it got too hot, and took the temper out of the rings. Now to decided what to do. Rebuild this top end, replace with a good 77 K model top end (would require new rings,) or swap in the engine for MV. Either way I am really bummed, and will not be riding for a awhile.

Sorry to hear about this buddy. You think it really killed a ring? Or maybe it just scarred up a piston. When you pull the top end to see whats up,if you find a bad piston, I still have the pistons out of this matic motor. I betcha they'd fit yours

Just let me know if there's anything I can do to help. At your service...

I have not had time to disassemble the engine yet, so no real news. However I might have the Police bike sold, so there might be an 836cc kit in the very near future. I also have a pre 76 head (little higher compression) and a K model cam that could go in. And maybe a set of F-3 carbs.
