but it's a bit beyond my skill set. I don't have 3D printing access, I have never soldered computer chips, just big wires. This thing looks like it would make some cool riding videos though.

Everyone has access to 3D printing if they have a computer.
Matter of fact it is the best way .
Draw it then get it printed.

I think I may have to just take the measurements and send the files to an online 3D printer, as I have not been able to find anyone around here with the equipment to actually print the gears. Or, I can shop online for universal gears and dremel them to fit. I could also carve a set out of wood, that's not too difficult to do.
The 3D printed gear will be the easiest to use, thats for sure.

Do you have a Hacker Spaces around you? Most of them these days have 3D printing available to its members.

I have not been able to find one close by, nearest one I found is in Miami, a 2 hour drive.

Sorry then. That's what I would think would be the best. Your best alternative would be to perhaps send them an e-mail and ask if they'd be willing to help you out, you make a small donation to the hackerspace, the guy who runs it prints you out what you need and mails it to you.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing. I am actually getting that same camera next month, so I really want to make this thing!

If I was a member of my local hackerspace, I would totally do it for you. Sadly, I'm not because I don't do physical hacking - only human and computer
