Thanks Mamalo and Dave. Trying to figure out the tank situation and the wiring is going to be a PIA! But so far so good. Much furhter and faster than I thought would be possible!
|
|
A little more progress. I got the new tail light on and a free whitewall so what the heck. I think I am going to move the fender back so that it is closer to the tire. Any thoughts? Notice that pic one and two are different.

Great job!
I like the fender in pic 2. Might I suggest moving the tank a little forward. Other then that its right on! Can't wait to see it finished.

Still working on the tank. I did have it forward but I have to fab a little more and move the petcock to use this tank. Not sure if I am going to use it but thanks.
|
|
Some more redneck engineering! Got a few couplings at Home Depot of all places and got my oil lines DONE! Working on the wiring a little today. Turning out to be the biggest PIA ever! Any suggestions?
|
|
Okay, been cold and nasty til last weekend and finally got some time to work on the ride. Going with a stock tank to make things easier. I don't have the skills to do the amount of fab work on the fatbob tank. I did get a lot more done though.
I got the mufflers painted and pipe wrapped but ran out before I got done.
Does anyone have a good close up photo of how the pipes go on the left side of the bike. I am having trouble due to the kickstand. The frame is unchanged in that area but I can't seem to figure out the routing without the left side sticking out to far. I will post some pics later.
|
|
Got a little more done. Finished up the pipe wrap. Rebuilt the master cylinder and front brake caliper. Seems to be going slower and slower. Oh well. Here are some pics.

Sure is coming along. I like the pipe tips sticking out like that. Too bad you cant you that other tank but if you can get the stock tank painted up good, it should be nice. Now to source a white wall on the front!
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I have been watching a build on another site that is very similar to yours here is a link. Check it out, might give you some inspiration. http://hondachopper.yuku.com/topic/36247/73-750-chop?page=1

Thanks Re-Run and Tools. I was planning on the white wall and a few other things, but... I got someone coming to look at it to buy it as is. I will explain later but I might be letting it go before I finish it.

Just checked out that build Tools! That thing is wicked. Thanks for the link!

Man you are so close to riding that bike. You are going to hate yourself if you sell it. And think off that boy. It looks like he put in some effort on it. I'll bet he would love to ride it someday.

Can't wait to see the bike finished. I like the clunky bobber look. I even like the patina on the tank.
Do you need a simplified wiring diagram? If so let me know.

I guess I'm in the same boat. Sold the old bike, and got this one.
Talk about different: water cooled, shaft drive, hydraulic clutch, 6 speeds, V-twin, upright style. Other than that, they're like brothers. The fun part was getting it running. Jelly in the carb bowls, clutch needed to be bled, tank lining was flaking off, and other little stuff that every bike needs.

So wv goes to an early 80 wing and luke does a shadow. It's all good! The wings make awesome touring bikes. Get a hitch and small trailer and go! I like the look of that shadow though. Looks similar to the vf700c I got. Gotta clean the carbs on that this weekend hopefully. Along with my cb carbs and oil and this and that! Oh, have clean up day this saturday too, so I get to toss a lot of crap out and make more room for bike parts!
Nikki, keep us updated on the progress
