Tested the oil tank. Filled it about have full of rubbing alcohol and left it set for a few days. No leaks

Got my bungs and petcocks all sorted out.

I am also thinking of getting a rear 18" rim to lace up to the front hub.

on the 18" front. I dont know what,if any, affect it would have on handling, but fat front tires always look cool.

Met this real cool guy. Said he has been playing with bike most of his life has like 15 69 - 77 cb750s and a few others. This guy has a three bay garage full of bikes and parts. His shed look like mini store of used parts and he has two cb750 and a 450 scrambler in the basement with more parts. He sold me a complete front wheel with this header pipe for 55 bucks. Nice
He told me he would go through some things and see if he could find a 18" rim for me.

I think I am going to blast it then repaint it black.

Good score bud! It's always nice to find a likeminded bike nut. I'm still looking forward to seeing that 18 on the front.

Thinking this may become a riding working build.

It will get there. But why not see about getting it on the road and riding it while working on getting the wheels and tires all sorted out. It looks like a Café bobber rat bike thing. Kind of cool looking.

I need to stop looking at it.

Just a little update on the build. Picked up these mirrors. They have the turn signals in them.

Ordered a complete gasket set that I need to go pick up in the next few days. Found out there is a Honda dealer about 30-45 minutes from my. Got a master cylinder rebuild kit in stock for 45 bucks. Nice So I got it and order the gaskets.

Thanks Shiny I am think that wheel will do just fine till I get the wheel for it done.

Got my gasket kit today.  Tore it down like the manual said and guess what.  The cylinder head broke lose from the case before the cylinder head it self come a part. Guess I should have drank one more before starting that part.

So now I should probable get a head gasket and pull the head.    *#*#*#*#*# Better safe then sorry. I should check over the rings and cylinder walls while I am at it.

The boy and I have been tools on the bike, Well what use to be  OOO ya complete gasket set means you get the head base gasket to.. Tore the cylinder head all down.

It had a few bent exhaust valves so I robbed them out of my spare motor. That motor is locked up Has WD-40 soaking in it now. If that don't work I will try tranny fluid.

Got the motor almost put back together and broke off the little bolt on the back of the head. Guess what I will be doing today.

Hoosier Daddy
Just as a friendly heads-up... WD-40 is not a penetrating oil, it's a protectrant. You'll have much better luck using a product acrually designed for pentetrating rusted parts.
I use P.B. Blaster or a home brew of ATF and Kerosene with good results, but Kroil, Liquid Wrench, or ATF thinned 50/50 with acetone are the top 3 provent performers.

In 2007, Machinist's Workshop published information on various penetrating oils, testing various penetrants for 'break-out' torque on rusted nuts. The torque load needed to loosen the 'scientifically rusted' bolts using the various penetrants were as follows:

No Oil used .................................. 516 pounds
 WD-40 ................................... ...... 238 pounds
 PB Blaster ................................... .. 214 pounds
 Liquid Wrench ................................127 pounds
 Kano Kroil ................................... .. 106 pounds
 50% ATF - 50% Acetone mix............53 pounds

A recent Drexel University engineering school study (found here) further supports the use of 'homemade' acetone blends made from vegetable oil and acetone as a better and more cost-effective alternative...

Top end broke back down bolt out and is all back together. I am think about polishing the valve cover. I don't know.

Next well be getting the frame and tanks all cleaned up.

I even got the spare motor freed up. To off the side cover and rolled it backwards. Then sucked the WD-40 out, cleaned the cylinder  walls up a little tranny fluid and soaked maybe a hour or two. Gently rolled the motor over and all moves very nice.

Hey Jamie, glad to see you back on this. That's a real nice looking blue. What are you planning for the white area? Maybe have an emblem in there

I am still working on this bike when I can. Just a little up of where we are now.
I started getting some things put in order to see how it would look. Not bad, dirty but that will clean up. I just need to really clean out that oil tank so we can wire it up get some oil in her and try to fire it up.
