Just have to rant about this

Truck
So I was up in Harpers Ferry this weekend.  I came up on a small 2 lane intersection with a light, slight curve to the road and a slant.  About 3 cars up was a group of about 20 bikers.  The light was kind of long in our direction and one of the riders that was on a bike waaay to big for him to be riding (he was about 5-2 maybe 130 older guy on a HD full dresser) couldn't support the bike on the incline and spilled the bike.  The entire pack got off their bikes to help out and closed the road in both directions.  Up to this point I have no problem with what they were doing, I was tempted to help out myself.  After that is when things got stupid.  After righting the bike and checking that the rider was ok they started messing with the bike and continued to block traffic.  When the rider couldn't get back on the bike due to it being to tall they sat there looking at the bike.  At this point traffic was backing up in all directions because no one could turn.  Finally someone got on the bike and drove it over to a gas station right next to where this all happened.  then instead of letting the opposite lane go they continued to block traffic while the 2nd rider parked the bike walked over got his bike going and finally got out of the way.  This entire fiasco lasted at least 1/2 an hour.  It was ridiculous.  For one thing that’s why you should never ride a bike you can't handle the size of.  Secondly, I’ve been out riding in packs where this has happened.  As a courtesy after making sure the rider was ok and the bike movable we got off the street.  We didn’t continue to block traffic in every direction for ½ an hour and cause a major traffic jam.  It’s people like this that give good riders a bad name.  Am I wrong to feel this way or does everyone agree with me?
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid

I'm sure they had to rev the engines some also. But actually that is white collar pro-ta-call. I have dealt with it, for years in the construction trades.

Sounds like the "little guy" was compensating for something, by being on a way-too-big-for-him bike.  Maybe some training wheels?  Something like THIS, perhaps? :-)

You have to admire the "pack" supporting this guy, but how about respecting your fellow drivers, who also pay road taxes and license fees?  *shrug*

Why ride a bike that's too big for you to pick up? I think 500-600 lbs is about the limit for me. Remember, it's not IF you lay down your bike, it's WHEN.

I mighta called the cops you know, since it was an "accident"! That would have got them moving sooner.
Hey great for helping the guy but get off the road. There was no collision and he was fine. No reason to bottle things up.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I'm with you when it comes to respect for other drivers. In Seattle the street I live on is a biking destination for cyclists, they always ride in the street never move over for cars and don't have respect for others on the road. It's like they don't care, and feel entitled. Seattle officials have even been throwing around the idea of slowing traffic on the freeway to 45mph so cyclists can use the shoulder!? Good ole Seattle.

My CB750 is just as fast as my Kawasaki 1500.
