Lowering a CB750K ????

duke31267
Newbie here...Don't laugh please.  Is it possible to lower a CB750K about 3 inches?  My son started riding and I came across this bike for a lot less than it's worth...too good to pass up...but my son's legs aren't as long as mine and he's a little intimdated by the height.  I can think of two ways to get the seat lower.  First is I buy an old seat...as long as the metal is good I can refoam and recover the seat...I know this can be done, but where can I find a used seat metal?  The other way is to change the shocks...but do I need to change the springs as well?

You can get any seat the fits your range and remove the cover and shave the foam down about 2 inches or so. Anymore and the seat will be uncomfortable. You can also get "shorty" shocks. There are some for about 80-100 clams. That also drop about 1.5 - 2 inches.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Dont forget the front too. If you drop the back, you should drop the front slightly. You can raise the forks about 1 inch in the trees. Anything else though means different fork tubes.

Yep,just keep the motor as level as possible. You can use the shorties and if you need to you can lower the front forks from the inside.Depends on how much work you and your son want to put into it.Remember when you lower the bike the pegs are closer to the ground so be carefull in the turns.

Not sure if they're still available, but 25 years ago I found some aftermarket "drop blocks".  They attach to the swingarm holes, facing the rear, where the rear shocks attach, then the shocks are bolted to the drop blocks, aiming slightly to the rear.  The drop blocks are about 2 inches long, so the net effect is a seat height drop of about 1 inch.  Again, I haven't seen these in years, but they may be out there.....
