New to site

TCB750
Hello,
I'm new to the site.
Looks like a lot of good info.

Just bought a 73 CB750 off the bay.
Has a 836 big bore, heads done, new valves, springs, cam, aluminum rims, oil cooler , oil pressure gauge, 4 into 1 header, new tires etc...and looks like a stock bike.

The work was done by a bike shop / machine shop in Michigan, but it was years back when performed.
There has been 5k miles put on the bike since the work.
The fellow that I bought it from talks very highly of the bike.
I have heard it run over the phone
I cant wait to get it.

I'm thinking I prob should have someone give it a look see and possibly a service.
Is there a good place to take this bike here in Kansas City?

My goal is to keep the bike looking stock in the short term, but may add some superbike bars rather soon.

Thanks in advance.

TB

This post was updated on .
The shop that did the work installed filter cones on each carb, however the fellow I purchased from did not like the look of the cones and put stock air breather back on. He says it runs perfect, but I'm thinking this might make the bike run a little rich.

Jayhawaker huh. I'm sorry.
Have you heard of the Kansas City chapter of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club?

I have heard of them.....but I haven't joined yet.
I read that they had a recent event at the river market and had a great turn out.

They do several events around KC. Last Sun was their 2nd annual picnic. I don't think anything else is planned for the rest of this year though. Check out kcvjmc.org

Thanks Tools.

By the way, I'm thinking you are the person to whom you were referring to.
I'm reading a lot of your posts.
Do you have a shop here in KC?

Oh boy....

Welcome to the board TCB750. Nice looking bike you have there! Those aluminum rims are what came on 'matics and ,I think, some GL's.

Why don't you contact the KCVJMC and ask them who to take a CB 750 to in KC? I'm sure Mark, and Frank will point you in the right direction.

Thank you..I sent an email to the KCVJMC inquiring about the club.
I received a prompt reply and welcome from Frank.
Looks like they meet once a month on Front St.

I used the UShip web site and was able to book a shipment for a fair price. I should have the bike on Tuesday next week. On those rims....maybe they are from a Gold Wing or GL.... I dont know...The previous owner says they are Italian and in very nice shape. I guess I will find out when it gets here. Also I am curious about the exhaust...looks like there is a lot of bluing on the exhaust...does this mean anything other than the pipe is blueing? A few more pics....

Those are not Honda rims, neither Goldwing, or Hondamatic. The bluing on the pipe is indicative of a lean running condition. I am curious about that front rotor. Action cycle salvage on Stadium Drive in Leeds has that exact same drilled rotor hanging on their wall.
Frank is on top of things. When I met him he only had one bike. Now he has four. I'm a bad influence.

tcazes
bike looks frickin awesome!!!!!! i love it man. congrats. the bluing is almost indicative of a lean condition but it could very well just be the material of the pipes.

man, that is a good looking bike.
the pipe does look like something is getting kinda hot, the blueing that far back.
Maybe pull a sparkplug and see what color the tip is.
White, bad, it's running lean.
Black, too much fuel or oil getting in the cylinder.
You want a light brown color.
If you hear a kinda pinging, or chirping, especially when you get on it, have it checked.
The blueing might just be from the bigbore kit, but I'd watch it.

As far as riding weather, a good set of ski gloves, a fullface helmet, a set
of skiing overalls, 3 pairs of socks and a good windproof jacket,
as long as there isn't snow or ice around, let's go riding!
