Oil behind ignition cover on 1980 CB750F

Just decided to check ignition timing on my 1980 cb750F and as soon as I loosened those 3 bolts oil just start running out (a lot of oil). I assume seal is bad and has to be replaced. How hard would be to replace that seal and, if is possible to change, where to buy it and how much would cost. Any help is appreciated. Regards,  sch071

Which side did you open?  If it's the left side cover, there should be a little oil in there for the starter gears.  If you keep it on the center stand, you won't drip too much.  If you're on the kickstand, quite a bit more will come out.

The ignition points are on the other side.
The seal can be taken out and replaced not a problem.

3 screws.

Bolts are 1/4 inch or larger in diameter. When it is 1/4 or smaller it is refered to as a screw.

So is 1/4 considered a bolt or a screw then?

What about "Stove bolts"? I have seen them as small as #4-40

Luke, thanks for your reply, highly appreciated.
I did open left side cover ( sitting on the bike, facing forward), removed 3 screws ( not bolts, sorry my bad) and exposed ignition points ( I can see small starter gear and big thin gear behind pickup points. Problem is that oil just started running out ( it was on kickstand, I do not have center stand). If I lean bike even more, oil will just run and run (I could do oil change this way). If I keep bike in "center stand" position oil will stop running. Is this normal at all, if I lean bike that oil just run and run. If is seal, can I change it by my self, what is price and best place to buy this seal? Regards, sch071

Well, maybe I wasn't specific enough:
My 79 CB750L also let oil out when I pulled that cover. I think it needs a little oil for the starter gears inside there. So I'm not necessarily sure there is a bad seal inside there.
An investigation of the microfiches at BikeBandit or OldBikeBarn will tell if there IS a seal in there, or it's just a crank-to-bearing-to-case fit.  I'm almost positive there is one for the right side where the alternator is.  You Definitely don't want oil on that side.

So the charging system and ignition is swapped-sided from a SOHC to a DOHC?
