Hi.
I have cleaned the alternator case (could not remove the rotor) the stator and rotor. Will do a reading tomorrow. I am sure you know already but someone might find this helpful

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHwrRRFzccA

Bad surprise on the engine case, I know where water was coming from. Do you think it can be repaired with jb weld?

Thanks.

Tested the rotor last night, and is dead.
I have reconstructed the broken bit of the case with some epoxy
bicomponent. Now I need to fix the broken bolt hole, where the bolt is not gripping
Anymore..any ideas? Will do some research. Thanks

To fix the thread, place the cover back on, and use the hole in the cover as a guide, and drill a 1/4 hole into the epoxy. Then remove the cover, and get a M6-1.0 Heli-coil kit, and tap the hole you drilled with the tap supplied in the kit, and install a heli-coil.

I don't think anyone sells new charging rotors, but I could be wrong. Probably have to find a used original one.

Bummer about the case. Cleaned up and prepped correctly JB Weld should hold up for a very long time. I'd get the stuff in the two squeeze tubes IMO. I don't have a lot of faith in the sticks they have available now.

Good luck with that and let us see how it turns out! I love to see broken stuff repaired and put back in to use.

*edit: I was thinking SOHC when I said that about the rotor. There are rebuild services available IIRC. So far my DOHC hasn't given me any charging issues,so I can't be of much help here. Sorry. Instead,I'll just watch and learn.

Rick's Electronics has new rotors for DOHC Hondas. (CB750F DOHC) . Also has stators and more. I investigated and I found out from DOHC people that these 2 guys are the best apparently.

Check it out at :

    http://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/rotors

Also there is Tim Parrot. I have been told good things about his work. He rebuilds your stock one. Also does stators and other electronic parts.

Check it out at :

   http://www.tpe-usa.com

Stator went bad. So I purchased a new stator from "Rick's".  Unfortunately there are no more OEM parts.  So we can only try these aftermarket  ones and hope for best. It is a shame that laws and bylaws allow manufacturers to get away with this issue about parts. Tired of driving into dead end atreets in regard to parts for 70's and 80's bikes and cars. If the law says manufacturers are compelled to make replacement parts for its vehicles for ONLY TEN YEARS AFTER MANUFACTURING DATE. then we are screwed.  But that is another issue, lets leave it at that.

I know that OEM stators and rotors are excellent, and last for eons, but once gone bad, issue is there is no more OEM parts, and we are at the mercy of the rebuilt and newly made parts. Dark ages in regard.

Your stator and rotor are probably gone after having all that mess floating all over and shorting the wires.

Rick's from what I have seen has a rotor/ stator package. You might want to test your regulator rectifier, it could had gone bad after such massive short under what your engine apparently went through.

Where are you, in Europe ? If so I know the address contact for a guy in Holland, very cool guy, I bought my 900F DOHC oil cooler parts (cooler, lines, engine pan and oil pump) from him, as well as miscelaneous parts.

Rick's and Tim both ship overseas from what I read in their respective sites.

Many thanks for your feedback and tips guys. Got in touch with Ricks and TPE, just waiting to see who's got the sweetest offer.
You guys know any good way to get a friend to ship me my future rotor and stator without paying custom charges?

And yes I live in Europe, UK to be precise, and would love to have the contact of that chap down in Holland Masiste.

Over the weekend, I have changed the oil, (not the filter yet) charged the battery, plugged everything in and tried to start up the bike with no luck.

It is very frustrating because you can really hear that the bike is right about to start..but I can be an old problem as well. Carbs are nice and clean at the moment..but when I open the tank petcock (either res or full fuel) the petrol comes straight out from the overflow pipes..very annoying.
Trying to trouble shoot that atm.
Needles and floats are clean and they seemd ok during my inspection. Still have a coned shape tip and the rest of componets are clean and in full working order.

Any idea on what to check?..Many many thanks.

Hi Shinyribs.

This information  should be kept afloat for others I agree.

I do not know how to make it a sticky thread or info. but it is great information for those in need.

 Hi Lucador.

Wrote to my buddy Wout ( his name ) a PM ( he goes to another website ) and told him about you in UK. He should reply anytime soon with his e mail so you guys can talk about  parts and he is also a great mechanic, he restored several Hondas CB F, he is a guru I could say.

Will relay his enfo as soon as I get it.

About your oil, change that oil filter as soon as you can, it could be all clogged up, have water in it, who knows.  Get rid of it before starting the bike.

I do not think it will run if your stator and rotor are gone. Save your battery for when you have all parts ready.

Wout probably knows a few Honda enthusiasts over there in UK. It can only get better after talking to him, he is cool guy. I met him in person, he once came to US, rented a RV and cruised around with his wife. Great guy. I saw him while staying at a Ocean side rv  park.

Since World Cup is coming, do not talk about football ( soccer to US conosseurs ) ... most people in UK and Netherlands root for their respective teams.... instead of bike parts you could get bottles thrown at you... ...  Just Kidding !!!!

Anyways, cant wait to see England and Netherlands in action !!!

Hi everyone, I am back. After a long wait for stator, rotor, rectifier, new CR29, coils and new digital ignition, I have done my homework and the bike started. Seems it runs ok apart from some rattling on the head which disappears when warm. Next is valve clearance.
I have cut the frame and over the weekend I will cut a steel plate to support the seat and locate electrics.
Here some pictures. Back in the game : )

Hi there, does anyone has experience with Davida's swingarm? pretty rare to find, I managed to grab one off ebay the other day. It should fit some of the gsxr caliper support and caliper with a gsxr wheel.
Anyone know anymore details about what model/year should fit on it?

That swingarm looks like total rubbish. If you want you can mail it to me and I'll give you your money back.  But seriously, no clue on fitment. Just need to measure it's dimensions and the pivot point. Also, see if it uses the same diameter pivot shaft as original.

The bike's shaping up nicely!

Oh yeah, toss those CR's in with that swingarm when you send it. I'll get rid of all that stuff for you.

Nice work.

Let me know how your Dinatek installation goes.

     Been thinking about such upgrade.

Like your tail section work too. Although I do like the stock tail piece myself, my plan is to replace the factory tail lamp for a twin round 1000R Honda I got a while ago..

Will do some work on my bike soon. (been busy with my Suzuki Samurai. Did a 1.6 8V  FI engine swap  from stock 1.3 carbureted . love it) Will ride it to a classic Japanese Car and Bike Show this September.

Hope to se Bill over there. He did ride his bike there last year.
