Rnning on all pots !

Hurraaaah !
My beast is now running on all four cylinders !
After a clean of the carbs, hotter plugs, and a few good blasts up the highway at 180ls, she's running like a rocket on rails !
Motor is very smooth, no bearing or camchain noise. Hotter plugs seem to burn off the soot from the new lead free tolueen rich gass, and she isnt blowing soot out of the exhaust when I gun the throttle any more.
She is still a pig when it comes to gass consumtion though, maybe a new air filter will help, get one next week.

Congratulations!!! Always encouraging to hear that another vintage Honda is running well. Keep tweaking and tuning. At this point, it may be a good idea to document where the bike is now as far as carb settings and so forth. This way you have a baseline to go back to, in case you try something new that doesn't quite work out.

It IS a nice feeling when you've been fiddling with a machine for a while, and then it wakes up and comes back to life.  I hope we were able to help.

I agree it is great to hear it is back on the living side.
What are you getting for milage? If I remember right they got between 40-50 MPG average.

As vern said, you should have somewhere between 40-50 mpg (55-70 kpg or so, I think?). I get 35 right now and it is quite rich yet but running pretty good.

Awesome that you are tearing up the roads though! I just wish I could ride in the winter!
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Hi re run,
Im getting around  160ks per tank, that includes useing up reserve. Im sure my previuos Custom Exclusive did better than this, about 250 ks Im sure. Reserve is generaly a 50k trip, but only 40ks on this bike.
Im sure it is running rich as well as the filthy air filter, but Im blowed if I jbnow how to tune it. Im also going to check if the choke is not closing properly.
The modern gass we have here in NZ has no lead, but uses Tolueen as an aromatic to bring the octane level up, its the dirtiest gass in the world, hence needing hotter plugs, maybe this contributes to the hungry fuel consumption ?
Sha's rummimg fine though, dragged off a Suzuki Boulovarf 800cc twin today at the lights, front end wanted to rear up, but the old CB is just too front heavy, was doing 80ks in 2nd gear !!!! Still no chain noise, motor running sweet as.
CB750, the only bike for me !
