Hoko, the front end is off a CBR. It's the stock fender for that bike. I dunno, but yes, it is hideous. It is in the process of being eliminated right now

It looks OK on a faired bike. Not so much on an early super sport, though.

What did that do to your spocket alignment?  I would think you would have been getting some real grinding from the chain with  almost a half inch misaligned.
The crazy part is that the PO had made a super nice sprocket spacer to correct the chain alignment. lol   The wheel was way off but the chain was spot on.

Ah, all back together now! Rims have fresh powdercoat on them. Everything is actually centered now and I put on a V&H 4-1. The bike will actually rev past 7k now. I like how the megaphone tucks up tight against the bike, but the primary tubes are double stacked (like all 4-1's ) and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't drag them.

Oh,and I moved the horns up a little higher. I hated how they stuck out like a sore thumb before. I think the headlight needs to come down a little lower, but I haven't figured out how to do that just yet. Next on the agenda is mounting a decent fender...ok,so it's not all back together yet,but it's getting there. Looks much better with the dolphins forehead removed.

Sick lookin bike! and those rims look good. I've seen people reverse the headlight mounts, not sure if that would put it to low for you or even possible on you modle, but it's a thought.

Hey Shiny.  Since correcting these things, have you put her up to speed to see if she still wanders?

No,I haven't. Between work and the weather changing cold so fast this year I haven't rode in over a month. It's always dark by the time I get home in the evenings and I'm not doing well with the cold weather this year...old age I guess.

I found a Ducati ST2 in a buddy's pile-o-parts. Took it home last night, mocked it up,liked it and made mounts. Bam.Fender situation fixed.

The adapter mounts are showing down around the axle pinch bolt,so I may PC these satin black to help hide them, but I'm happy with this fender. I'm a little concerned about the (lack of) coverage at the rear of the tire, but if it worked for an ST2 it should work for me. We'll see.

Now I have to decide whether I want to paint the fender to match the rest of the body or just shoot it flat black. I'll admit, the idea for flat black stems from pure laziness and not wanting to color match paint, but the more I think about it the more I like it. Thoughts??

Yes,my fork legs need attention. No,the reflectors are not staying.

Annnnd the pipes drag.Poo. I knew I should've went with another 4-2!

I was taking it easy trying to warm the tires up. Probably been riding for about 10 minutes on some back roads. I turned left with a little bit of speed and it felt solid,so I decided to go for it. I came up on a right hand turn and BAM!!!!!! I wasn't even trying hard. I bet my peg was still 5-6'' off the ground. It hit so hard and fast the rear tire unloaded and the bike went into a skid. It was easy enough to recover, but these pipes won't work for me.

So...who needs an almost new set of Vance & Hines pipes for a DOHC CB750F,900F or 1100F?

Beekeeper, the high speed wobble is gone completely. I eased 3rd gear up to about 110 and it was solid. Rode that speed for several seconds seated normally. Then I slid my feet on to the passenger pegs and it remained stable. So that's all good now.

As far as the trouble turning right..well,I don't know yet. Since the pipes are dragging like a dog with worms I'll have to wait to find out about that.

The new fender looks pretty good.  Do you need some kind of fork brace since the original fender had the rigid mounting bracket in it?

No,but good question, though. The original fender for these forks as equally as flimsy as the one I have for it now. The low profile of the new fender does allow me room to add a fork brace, though. And I'm already making plans for adding one. Way to spoil the surprise dude! These forks are pretty beefy at 43mm,but I thought a brace would look the part. And Lord knows I need another project...

I had to go back and reread that you had the CBR 1000 forks.   I just kept fixating on that old fender, like Austin Powers on that guys mole!  bahahahahahah  Just kidding ya.  Anyway, it looks like it should with the new fender.   A loaded gun, ready to fire.
