Sissy bar, 1981 CB750k

cdaiscool
Looking for a sissy bar for a 1981 CB750k. I've got a sissy bar, but it is too far apart from the frame. Wondering if someone has one that's more of a direct fit onto the frame itself.

Otherwise, I'll have to figure out some sort of bracket or something, and I'm not sure I'll be able to do that without my usual set of tools...

Awesome, thanks!

Plan is to get a sissy bar bag, tank bag, and hang a sleeping bag off the back of the bike. Haven't figured out where I am going to put fuel, though. Unless the sissy bar also has a platform off the back.

Once I have everything, I'm going to start mocking things up, trying to make everything work. We'll see how well I do.

Hey Craig. That bar I have is 12" between mounts, widthwise. The front and rear mounts are. 4.75-5.5" apart.  If any of this sounds like it will work at all. Ill get some better detailed pics. Emblem on it says KG.????? . Chrome is a 8 out of 10- light hair type scratches and a little surface e rust in the creases.  One tear on the top corner of the back rest. Ill put up pics in a few hours.

Is that straight across? Meaning, its that width both at the front and the back? Let me measure mine right quick (going to adjust the brake pedal anyways) and then that'll help with identifying a bar that will fit anyways.

Otherwise, I may have an idea I'm going to try next weekend to get mine to work - if I can find it in storage, that is!

You're too fancy with your spiffy pics! The 12'' wide part I THINK is made to bolt outside the eyelet of the shock, instead of on the frame side of the shock. Could be dead wrong. The rear mounts are hard to describe on this thing.

Pics!

Weirdness

This tear is about 1 1/2'' long

Too bad you aren't closer we could just jump on this thing and make one like you want.I love building stuff like this

Aren't you in the mountains? I considered doing Tail of the Dragon, but decided the risk of snow and sudden storm turned me off.

If you're not in the mountains, well, I know of a long-distance trip I'm taking in a few weeks...

I live around the mountains, but I'm in the valley actually. Montvale is (supposedly)  French for valley between the mountains.

Still gotta go into 'em then to get to you. Not really liking the idea of hitting mountains still. But hey, we'll see!

Regarding the original post, talked to the mechanic today. We were discussing packing some more, and he mentioned he's got a pretty cool sissy bar and luggage rack that he'd be willing to sell me for a decent price. He has an SOHC 750 in his shop, so he's going to look at how different it is from mine and try to create some mounting system for it. I have to go back next week to pick up some coils I ordered today (mine are weak I think) and we're going to try to fit it on the bike then. He doesn't think it'll be too difficult to just cut some tubing for 'em to create our own mounts.

So I might be closing THIS particular ad within the next week or 2. We'll see.

Sounds like a good plan. The valley I live in is not that deep. Somewhere around 1,600 ft. I ride the mountains around here year round, not an issue.

I dont remember where you are located at. If it aint too far we oughta be riding anyways!

Ann Arbor, Mi. Not exactly a local joint.

Most likely, I'll be taking some time off this summer and riding somewhere as well. Perhaps Sturgis? We'll see.

Not to mention, since I'm going to have the sleeping bag and pad, I'll probably start going on weekend trips and camping out at places. We'll see how that goes. Maybe some weekend, if we both race to a mid-point, we can go for a ride together for the hell of it. Hmm...

9 hours 37 mins via highway, 13 hours 11 minutes avoiding 'em.

Do-able for a 3-day trip. Hmm...

Definitely, get me shots and such.

I'm hearing more that they do mount to the shocks, but there's got to be a second mounting point (4 in all). So not sure where those would then mount.
