Some quick info from the gurus please

Argent
My new 1980 CB750 custom;  The only frame number I can find is on the steering neck, RC01-2203303.

Searching on this number I've found everything from this bike being a 1981 CB1000, to a 1979 CB650K.

Does anybody have a good number decoder that can tell me exactly what this is saying?  I would like to get everything, build number and all if possible.

Also, is there any reason why I shouldn't make this bike my own?  It's not a sleeper collector bike, and if I change the tank than all the hard core 750'rs will come to my house with pitchforks and torches?

   Thanks!

Well I don't have numbers right now, but most people aren't going to tar and feather you for modding a dohc. As long as you do it tastefully and do good work!

However, are you looking at the vin plate, or the stamped number, if it has 1? There should be a vin plate that says the vin, year and model. At least my 78K has all that.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Stock bikes are boring!!!
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid
