Sorry Guys, I let you down

FastCletus
after tinkering for what seemed like eternity, I gave up on tuning my cb750.  I couldnt get the revs over 5K and it just didnt seem to run right.  New Fuel Filter, Timing adjust, cleaned carbs out throughly,  new coils (f3), new plugs, and it still just doesn't seemed to run like I think it should.
I ended up dropping it off at Vallejo Dealer today.  feel like a quitter, but i felt like I had reached the max for my education level, and i needed help.
really hope they can tune it right

Nothing wrong with that, I as well as many others here know you gave it a damn good try!
Hope they can figure it out in short order. It may not help your ego but it would be nice if they said something like "Yeah it's done, You can come get it. Was only a loose "___________" so the bill is only $50."
Driveabilty (the way an engine performs) issues are a pain to diagnose at times. You have to admit, You've come a long way in the time you and the bike have spent together. Now minor things like tune-up and valve adjustments will be a breeze.

Don't let that bother you guy, you do what you need to do to get riding.

That's the bottom line.

Nothing to be sorry about. I have enjoyed reading your post. You tried and that says some thing, Some don't even do that.

You will need to post what the shop fines.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

Thanks Fellas.  When I look back at how far I have come, wow i have accomplished alot.  I took apart my carbs the other night and did it withoutout a whole lot of thought.  6 months a go I was scared to death of those things.  i actually knew what I was taking apart, and i just went about it like I would cutting the grass.  no thought.  easy as pie

sad think is shop is backed up for a while so i doubt I will get my bike back til August.  Oh well just have to ride the Ducati til then.  I know sob sob sob

Thanks again!!

all I can say is 'way to go" with all you've done. I just haven't trusted myself with anything up to now. about to dive in slowly; hopefully I'll catch up to you soon. I'll never be "one of the masters" though.

Vallejo, California?

I hope that dealer knows something about carbs.

I think you might have jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
Dealerships usually know nothing.

Can you post a photo of the motorcycle?
IS it stock?

Yes Vallejo CA. Mach 1 is the name of  the shop.  Couple of people have recommended them to me

Bike is basically stock.  4 into 1, F3 coils, bigger jets 72 / 105, stock box no pods

Dealer hopefully can assist.  I was at the end of my education,  and nowhere else really to turn to.  Bike runs, just dont feel like it runs as it should.  Dealer might come back and say its as good as its gonna get.  If that be the case then fine, but if I hadn't had them look, I would always wonder

You did not let me down maybe yourself? I slept good last night. I have a feeling this is not a Honda dealership. Or is it? Please tell me what they found was the issue.

Hey there are things I don't do on my bike I hate changing tires as easy as it is. I would not look at it as a let down. At least you found a shop that will work on it most of the kids will not have a clue about these bikes. Had one ask me where the lap top port was

Followed up on my bike and the shop wasnt going to touch it til the 30th.  I decided to give it another shot, so I brought it home.   I figure I am going to ride for a day, and just pull over and adjust air/screw until I get it right.  Might take me a few hours on the bike to get it dialed in, but so what.

IF that doesn't work I found another shop in ROhnert park who has worked on my duc before and they did good work. Old school mechanics, so they know about carbs

Re: Sorry Guys, I let you down

This post was updated on .
Instead of working in the dark, this is what I would do.
Go to the DOHC website.
The forum members probably have already done most of the homework 4 you.
IT has been done many times.
You are on the wrong forum really because most of the questions and answers on this forum are about the SOHC bikes not DOHC's.

When you adjust mixture screws COUNT how many turns out they are.
Don't just turn them.
Put a mark on the screw driver with a marking pen.
That bike should only need 1/4 turn richer than the stock setting.

Also stay on the same thread from now on.
We cannot go through all of your threads looking for all of the facts
and history as to what you have done in the past.

Give all of the facts on this thread.
Tell us what the stock jetting was and tell us if you changed any of the jets or needle positions.

Do not tell us you washed the bike or that you reset the valves.  LOL...lol
The carbs are LAST . Every thing else must already be finished.

Stay on this thread. Your mind is jumping all around and your threads are jumping all around, and now you have taken the bike to the dealer and then you changed your mind and brought the bike home (smart move), and are also looking at a new bike. IT is hard to keep up with you.

Don't just "tinker" Have an organized approach and stick to a plan. Work the plan.
