As I started rushing to work this morning at the first red light I noticed an odd sound coming from my engine, turned off the bike, realized the starter was stuck on, ran out of battery due to the short slow ride I had done with the starter stuck on, flooded the engine trying to kick start it (a common occurrence for me) finally found a driver with cables to give me some spark to try cranking on the bike again but I think the engine was pretty flooded and the stuck starter was draining the current I needed to keep the bike on. I started pushing the bike, pretty frustrated, and dropped it away from me and unto the curb. The man with the cables had not driven away yet and he helped me lift the bike up. I then pushed the bike back home in some pretty nasty traffic, good thing for the reflective vest I wear, huh?
Good thing that first red light hit me just a quarter mile from my home, hopefully saving my starter from burning. If I had gotten a green, I'd have ridden at least 15 mins on the freeway with the starter cranking the entire time.
Tonight I'll open the starter switch and I bet I'll find it stuck together, I'll borrow some cables to get a spark from my car's battery and hope I can be back on the bike again. Thank God I fixed my Maxima's battery problem just in time, otherwise I'd be on foot and very miserable. Its battery was dead last Friday but I took it to the Auto Zone and charged it back to life.
